How these claims were checked, and what that removed from the table#

Every price, limit and export claim below comes from the vendor's own pricing page or help documentation, opened in August 2026. Nothing here is carried over from another roundup. Where a vendor does not publish a fact, the gap is marked as a gap rather than filled.

That discipline cost two tools. Prezi's pricing page returned an empty document, so Prezi is not in the comparison. Three kinds of export, and only one of them cannot bite you#

Sort every tool on this page into three buckets and the buying decision gets much simpler.

Native. The AI writes into a Google Slides or PowerPoint file that already exists. Plus AI, SlidesAI's extensions, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Gemini in Slides all work this way. There is no fidelity loss on export because there is no export.

Exported. You build in the vendor's editor and download a PPTX. Beautiful.ai, Gamma, Decktopus, Presentations.AI and Pitch's paid tiers sit here. Fidelity is a real variable, and the vendor's own documentation is the only honest guide to it.

Viewer-first. The deck lives at a share link, and PDF is as far as the download goes — an editable PowerPoint file is a paid upgrade. Chronicle's Free and Pro tiers and Pitch's free tier both land here. Publishing to the web works fine; handing over a file someone else can edit does not.

Plus AI: the tool that removes the export question#

Plus AI's structural advantage is that it never produces a file you have to convert. The subscription includes the extension in both Google Slides and PowerPoint, so the deck is a real .gslides or .pptx from the start. Whatever you think of the draft, you can fix it with the tools you already know.

This is a small piece of copy doing a lot of work. Vendors across this category say "export to PowerPoint." Beautiful.ai is the only one whose pricing page adds the word editable, and it is the vendor making the claim about its own product.

Better still, that export sits on Pro, the entry tier, at $12/month billed annually ($144/year). Team is $50 per user billed monthly or $40 per user per month annually and covers 2 to 20 seats; Enterprise is custom-priced. You do not have to buy a team plan to get your file.

Branding scales sensibly. Pro includes custom branding and styling with a custom theme builder, Team adds workspace-level custom branded themes plus configurable brand guardrails, and Enterprise adds advanced brand guardrails.

The specific limitation: Google Slides export is not listed anywhere in the pricing comparison table. That is not proof the feature is absent, but if your organization runs on Workspace, treat it as unanswered and confirm before you subscribe. There is also no free tier — your options for trying it are a 14-day trial that requires a credit card, or the one-time Single Presentation purchase at $45.

Gamma: free export, stamped file, and a documented silence#

Gamma supports three export formats — PDF, PNG and PowerPoint — and export is available to free accounts. It is not paywalled outright, which already puts it ahead of Chronicle and Pitch on this one axis.

The cost is branding. A "Made with Gamma" watermark appears on exports from free accounts and is removed automatically on any paid plan, including Plus and Pro. Plan names are Free, Plus, Pro, Ultra, Teams and Business; API key access requires Pro, Ultra, Teams or Business.

Gamma's help center is unusually candid about what changes on the way out. Gradient headings may render differently or default to a single color, frosted backgrounds may use fallback styles in PDF and PowerPoint, and some advanced accent-image effects still use fallbacks. Gamma also embeds theme fonts directly into the exported .pptx so text displays without installing anything.

There is no direct Google Slides export. Gamma documents reaching Slides indirectly by uploading the exported PPTX, which is a second conversion and a second chance to lose formatting.

Chronicle: polished, and PowerPoint costs $30/month#

Now the part that decides it. Free and Pro get "Export to PDF & socials" only — PowerPoint export requires Plus or Max. Pro is the tier that removes the Chronicle watermark, so at $15/month you get an unbranded deck you still cannot hand over as an editable file.

Branding lands earlier than the export does: Pro adds custom themes alongside watermark removal, and Max adds advanced custom branding and custom fonts. If you need a PPTX and your own fonts, Chronicle is a $45 to $59 per month product, not a $12 one.

The free tier is the clearest example of this article's argument. You get PDF export carrying Pitch branding, and no PowerPoint export at all. Unbranded PDF and unbranded PPTX both start at Plus.

For a solo user that is EUR 10/month to stop advertising Pitch on your own client deck. For a five-person team on the free plan, everyone is publishing branded PDFs until somebody buys seats.

Branding is where the cheap tier stops. The comparison table lists no branding features on Pro at all — the Brand Kit, which pulls your visual identity from a pasted website URL, starts at Business, alongside a custom domain. Enterprise adds custom branding systems.

Two gaps compound that. The Business tier price is not stated on the pricing page at all, so the branding tier is unpriced, and like Presentations.AI, watermark policy is not mentioned on any tier. The monthly-to-annual gap is also the steepest in this roundup — $24.99 versus $9.99 is a 2.5x penalty for staying flexible.

SlidesAI: the add-on route, with limits counted per year#

SlidesAI works in Google Slides, PowerPoint, ChatGPT or the browser, distributed as a Google Slides extension, a PowerPoint add-in, a ChatGPT integration and a standalone web app. Its homepage lists export to Google Slides, PowerPoint and PDF.

Pricing is Basic free at $0, Pro at $10/month or $120 billed yearly, and Premium at $20.83/month or $250 billed yearly. Read the limits carefully, because they are annual and not monthly: Basic covers 12 presentations per year, Pro 120 per year, Premium unlimited.

Twelve presentations a year is one a month. Character input per presentation is capped at 2,500 on Basic, 6,000 on Pro and 12,000 on Premium, and document upload is restricted to Pro and Premium. AI credits are also annual — 120, 600 and 1,200 respectively.

The specific limitation: SlidesAI's pricing page does not state export formats or watermark policy at all. Those export claims come from the homepage. Two vendor pages, two different levels of specificity, and the one that governs your invoice is the quieter of the two.

If your company runs Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, buy nothing until you have checked what your existing license already includes.

Microsoft 365 Copilot includes Copilot in PowerPoint alongside Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. The Business add-on is $18.00 per user per month paid yearly, discounted from $21.00 with the discount stated as valid through September 30, 2026, or $25.20 per user per month on monthly billing. Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Copilot is $23.50 per user per month annual; Business Premium with Copilot is $32.00 annual.

The catch is explicit on Microsoft's own page: the add-on requires a separate license for a qualifying Microsoft 365 plan. It is a surcharge, not a subscription.

Gemini in Slides is included with Google Workspace plans at no extra cost — but not all of them. The pricing page lists Gemini in Slides on Business Standard, Business Plus and Enterprise, and marks it "not supported by this SKU" on Business Starter. Read the description before you plan around it: Google's own wording is "make presentations shine with AI images," which is image generation, not drafting a whole deck.

What Tome's shutdown should teach you about viewer lock-in#

Forbes reported in July 2026 that Tome's founder shut down the presentation product in March 2025. Most of a roughly 70-person team was laid off, leaving six people. The company was generating approximately $3 million in annual revenue against $80 million raised, with about half still in the bank at the pivot.

Forbes cites the monetization failure directly: users were largely on free plans or $10/month subscriptions. The team then built Lightfield, an AI sales tool for summarizing calls and drafting follow-up emails.

The lesson is not that AI presentation startups are doomed. It is that a well-funded, well-designed one in this exact category stopped shipping, and the free-and-cheap pricing that makes these tools appealing is the same pricing that makes them fragile. A native PowerPoint or Google Slides file survives a vendor you no longer have. A share link does not.

Be honest: this is a first draft, not a deck you can present#

Every tool here produces a starting point that needs work. That is an editorial judgment from reading what these vendors document about their own output, not a measured figure, and you should treat any roundup quoting a precise "time saved" number with suspicion.

What the export tier actually determines is how fixable that draft is. A native Google Slides file can be restructured, re-themed and rewritten by anyone on your team. A PDF from a viewer-first free tier can be replaced, and that is all.

Budget for three passes regardless of tool: cut the slide count roughly in half, replace generic imagery, and rewrite every headline into a claim rather than a topic. You need pixel-exact compliance with a locked corporate template. These tools generate layouts; enforcing a template is the opposite problem, and Microsoft 365 Copilot working inside your existing .potx is a better fit than any generative editor.

You present from a machine with no internet. None of the web-first tools here — Gamma, Chronicle, Pitch, Presentations.AI, Decktopus — publish an offline presenting mode, and a viewer-first deck with no downloadable file is unusable on an air-gapped laptop.

You are building one deck a year. At that volume, the annual commitment that makes these prices reasonable is worse value than an afternoon in PowerPoint. Before you subscribe to anything, run it through the checklist for evaluating AI tools before buying.
